Angie Brown’s work is a glimpse into an intimate world where pop culture is insignificant. Her drawings, tangled and twisted, embody deep layers of spontaneous emotion. Her distorted faces evoke primitive feelings of fear, vulnerability, and passion, appealing to a basic and universal humanity in the viewer. These figures are unique and complex individuals freed from a failed modern trance.

Born in California, Angie has been painting and drawing since she could hold a crayon. Fulfilling her dream to pursue art-making professionally, she received a BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. After attending an artist residency in Santa Fe, she relocated to Brooklyn, drawing inspiration from the vibrant energy and art in New York. Now back in her native state, she has made her home in Bodega, where she has begun working prolifically in clay.
